Bible Verses on Forgiveness: Ephesians 4:29
Slide 2 of 3
Ephesians 4:29 "Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear."
Romans 12:17 "Repay no one evil for evil, but give thought to do what is honorable in the sight of all."
Our culture really seems to love revenge. But God calls us to forgive, no matter how hard.
Ephesians 4:32 "Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you."
Kindness has gone out of fashion, it seems. But Christ calls us to gentleness, to compassion, and to forgiveness. It will certainly make you stand out, but it will also give you an opportunity to share the good news about Jesus.
Colossians 3:12-14 "Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassion, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony."
We forgive because God first forgave us. We remember from Jesus' parables that an unforgiving heart truly does not understand the grace of God. If God has redeemed us from our enormous, unpay-able debt, can we not forgive a brother or sister who has committed a lesser offense?
Matthew 5:24 "First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift."
