7 Family-Friendly Streaming Picks to Brighten Your June Nights

June is for cookouts, swimming pool cannonballs, and -- if you’re in the right spot -- catching fireflies.

But when the skies turn gray, the bugs start biting, and the kids grow restless, it’s also a good month to curl up on the couch for a family movie night.

Thankfully, the streaming platforms have plenty to offer this month.

Here are seven great family-friendly options for June.

1. Bee Movie (Netflix)

Bee Movie

A honeybee named Barry breaks free from the hive to explore the human world and is shocked to learn that humans eat and sell his family’s primary commodity: honey. With a new human friend at his side, he sues the human race, determined to win justice in the courtroom. This hilarious 2007 animated children’s film starred Jerry Seinfeld and Renée Zellweger in the lead roles and was nominated for a Golden Globe. Rated PG for mild suggestive humor.

2. The Chosen, Season 5 (Prime Video)

The Chosen

Branded Chosen: Last Supper for its theatrical release, Season 5 of The Chosen masterfully depicts key scenes from the life of Christ: the entry into Jerusalem, the cleansing of the temple and the final meal with the 12 disciples prior to His death. (The yet-to-be-produced Seasons 6 and 7 will depict the crucifixion and resurrection, respectively.) All eight episodes of this new season roll out over three weeks on Prime Video beginning June 15 as part of an exclusive new partnership. Jonathan Roumie stars in the lead role.

3. The King of Kings (Angel)

The King of Kings animated film

A loving father tries to rein in his imaginative son, Walter, by offering him a bedtime story about the King of kings: Jesus. This animated box office hit tells the story of Christ through the narration of Walter’s father, author Charles Dickens, who grabs his son’s attention with stories of “angels and wicked kings and jealous rivals and miracles.” It featured an all-star cast, including Oscar Isaac, Uma Thurman, and Pierce Brosnan. It is one of the best films of 2025.

4. The Greatest Showman (Prime Video)

The Greatest Showman still

A desperate businessman risks everything to launch a circus-style show featuring “unique persons and curiosities” -- a bearded woman with a powerful voice, a short man who rides horseback, and someone dubbed the world’s “heaviest man.” This vibrant musical was loosely inspired by the life of P.T. Barnum and offers a deeply biblical message: Every life holds value. “Our own mothers were ashamed of us and hid us our entire lives… You gave us a family,” one performer tells Barnum. Rated PG for thematic elements including a brawl.

This live-action film was the third in a popular series that is based on a video game and stars Jim Carrey. It includes solid lessons about family, friendship, and even adoption. But with miracles stirring the crowds, secrets rising to the surface, and loyalties unraveling, both sides must face the high stakes of their convictions. Releasing June 8.
