Sharing the Gospel can be very difficult. There have been countless times when I have attempted to share the Gospel, only for my brain to forget everything I was about to say. Fear also has the same effect on me, as it can cause me to lose my train of thought. A lack of motivation can also cause us to be discouraged from sharing the Gospel.
When we struggle in any of these areas, it feels nearly impossible to share the Gospel. We are too consumed with our fears, worries, or disappointments to avoid sharing the Gospel. Most individuals credit a lack of motivation to laziness, but this is not always true. A lack of motivation for sharing the Gospel can be connected to past rejections, hurtful comments, and self-consciousness.
Therefore, don’t view a lack of motivation as something that can be “worked through.” Serving Jesus is a matter of love, not a matter of succeeding or not succeeding. The truth is that none of us can control whether a person places faith in Jesus or not. All we can do is share the Gospel and trust God with the rest.
Here are five Bible verses to reflect on when we need motivation to share the Gospel.

1. Psalm 96:3

1. Psalm 96:3
SLIDE 1 OF 5
“Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous deeds among all peoples” (Psalm 96:3).
When we need motivation to share the Gospel, we can turn to Psalm 96:3. Although mission work had not been officially established when this passage was written, this passage points us to the truth of declaring God’s glory to all the nations. This shows us that God has wanted all people to come to know Him even before He sent His Son into the world to die for our sins. This is because God has always loved us and will continue to love us all eternity.
With this love in our hearts, we must take His Name to all nations. We can share the beautiful message of the Gospel with friends who do not know Jesus yet. Even if they don’t place faith in Jesus immediately, we can continue to share the Gospel with them in word and deed. By displaying the love of Jesus in our actions, we will help the lost know the Lord and the body of believers love them.

2. Matthew 28:18-20

2. Matthew 28:18-20
SLIDE 2 OF 5
“Then Jesus came to them and said, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age” (Matthew 28:18-20).
One of the best passages to encourage us to share the Gospel is Matthew 28:18-20. Through this passage, we are given the Great Commission. The Great Commission is a command given to us as believers. It is not optional, nor can we ignore it. Instead, we have to obey the Lord. To fulfill the Great Commission, we must go out to all nations, share the Gospel, and baptize those who believe in the Name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Once we have done this, we are to teach them everything that the Lord has taught us, which means to disciple them in the Bible, their Christian walk, and their knowledge of God.
Whenever we are short on motivation, the Great Commission will help us to be eager to share the Gospel again. Whether we travel to distant lands on a mission trip or we share the Gospel with a few friends who are not believers, we are obeying the Lord’s commands. When we get scared, we can rest in the peace that Jesus tells us He will always be with us. As we share the Gospel, He will teach us what to say and strengthen us. Allow Him to work through you today.

3. Acts 4:12

3. Acts 4:12
SLIDE 3 OF 5
“Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved” (Acts 4:12).
Acts 4:12 is another Bible verse that will set our hearts and minds toward sharing the Gospel. This passage encourages us to share the Gospel because, as it tells us, salvation is found in no one else. Salvation is only found in Jesus. Nobody can find salvation apart from the Lord. No other name can save us from eternal separation from the Father, except for the Name of Jesus.
This means we must help all people come to know the Lord. False religions and cults will try to tell people they can find salvation in the names of Allah, Buddha, or Krishna, but this is not true. The secular world will try to tell us there is no need for salvation because we are all relatively good people and there is no life after death. All of these teachings are built upon falsehoods because there is life after death, and the only person who can save us from hell is Jesus.
We must allow Acts 4:12 to stir us to action because salvation is only found in Jesus. If we do not help the lost world to know this, they will continue to worship false deities and false gods. Since we have been entrusted with the truth, we must share it with everyone worldwide. Yet again, we cannot make them place faith in Jesus, but we can share the truth of the Gospel with them.

4. Romans 1:16

4. Romans 1:16
SLIDE 4 OF 5
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile” (Romans 1:16).
The Apostle Paul's words in Romans 1:16 are a beautiful motivator for sharing the Gospel. Like Paul, we should be able to echo the same words. We are not ashamed of the Gospel because it is the power of God that brings salvation to all who believe. Rather than suffering from a lack of motivation, we will start to see the importance of sharing the Gospel. It is truly the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes.
Salvation is vitally essential for all people. Without it, one cannot enter Heaven when they pass away. As believers, this should encourage us to share the Gospel with others. It is the power of God that will bring salvation to all people. All they have to do is believe and place faith in Jesus. Instead of sitting on the sidelines any longer, we need to take the proper steps to share the Gospel with people in our own lives.

5. Romans 10:13-14

5. Romans 10:13-14
SLIDE 5 OF 5
‘Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.’ How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?” (Romans 10:13-14).
A final passage to encourage us to share the Gospel is found in Romans 10:13-14. Paul asks how anyone can call on the Name of the Lord to be saved if they have not heard about Him? In other words, how can they hear the Gospel if nobody shares it with them? This is a significant motivator to us as Christians because it calls us to go and share the Gospel with all people.
How will anyone place faith in Jesus if they never hear the Gospel message? This is why we must share the Gospel in our words and actions. Unbelievers can listen to the Gospel and place faith in Him by going out to the nations. Even if the person does not believe in Jesus, we can rest in the Lord, knowing we did all we were commanded.
We are called to share the Gospel, yet each individual has to choose to believe in Him. This is because God has given all of us free will. With this free will, we can either believe in His Son or not. In addition, free will also provides us with the ability to decide whether we will obey Him or not. As believers, we must follow the Lord’s command, share the Gospel, and disciple those who believe.
This will take time and energy, yet it is what God calls us to do. Motivation can be hard to find some days, yet by looking at these Scripture passages, we can see all the motivation, encouragement, and support we need. The Lord does not call us to be dormant in our faith. Instead, He calls us to share the Good News of His death, burial, and resurrection. He doesn’t want anyone to be lost (1 Timothy 2:3-4).
