10 Easter-Inspired Desserts

Easter is a holiday that many of us love because it is a day to celebrate the anniversary of the Lord’s resurrection. Easter Sunday is a beautiful time to reflect on the greatness of Jesus, His saving grace, and the future promise of His return. During this holiday, it is common for Christians to spend time with their families in celebration of the Lord. An aspect of the celebration centers around enjoying a meal and dessert with your loved ones.

While most families enjoy an Easter ham on Easter Sunday, not many people have pre-selected Easter desserts. If you are looking for a few ideas, you have come to the right place. Whether you are short on time or you have an abundant amount of time, there is a perfect dessert for you to serve on Easter Sunday. Through this extensive list of recipes, you will find many that you may want to try—but know that you don’t have to make them all on Easter Sunday.

Easter is normally associated with springtime; therefore, springtime recipes are also great to include in your dessert line-up for the Easter week. Each of these recipes can be a lot of fun to make, and once you are done making them, you have the blessing of a sweet treat. Here are ten Easter-inspired desserts that everyone will enjoy.

  • 1. Chocolate Malt Nest Cake

    1. Chocolate Malt Nest Cake

One Easter-inspired dessert to try this year is a chocolate malt nest cake. In total, this recipe takes three and a half hours; however, only one and a half hours of this time is active in the recipe. If you are short on time, this might not be the ideal recipe, but if you plan ahead, this would be a great Easter dessert. If you are a chocolate lover, this recipe is definitely for you!

    2. Easter Chick Cupcakes

A second Easter-inspired dessert is Easter chick cupcakes. If you have small children, they will especially love these colorful and whimsical cupcakes. In fact, older children and adults will love this sweet treat too! The complete recipe can be found here. In total, this recipe takes less than 30 minutes, but do take note that the recipe is for one individual cupcake. If you need more than one, make sure to administer the ingredients in accordance with the desired need.

    3. Hot Cross Buns

A third Easter-inspired dessert is hot cross bus. Hot cross buns are a favorite for people of all ages, especially during Easter. If you are unsure of a dessert that all ages will enjoy, consider making hot cross buns. Hot cross buns are nostalgic to older family members as well as they will form new, lasting memories with younger family members. A bonus of this dessert is that the cross design on the hot cross buns helps to remind us of our Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ.

    4. Carrot Cake

A fourth Easter-inspired dessert to try this Easter is carrot cake. Carrot cake is one of my personal favorite cakes! While not everyone is fond of this cake because of the vegetables included in the mix, it is a great recipe that everyone should try at least once. Even your picky eaters might find that this becomes their favorite flavor of cake, especially if you nail the delicious cream cheese frosting! A wonderful recipe for carrot cake can be found here

    5. Pineapple Upside Down Cake

A fifth Easter-inspired dessert is pineapple upside cake. This cake might sound a bit different for Easter, but since Easter occurs in the spring, we often start thinking about fruity sweet treats. If you are someone who loves pineapples and trying something new, this will be the perfect recipe for you. My mother used to make this recipe often, and it was always a joy to have on any day of the year. A great recipe for pineapple upside down cake can be found here

    6. Easter Bread

A sixth Easter-inspired dessert to try this year is Easter bread. While this recipe is similar to hot cross buns, it has a unique flavor. If you are someone who loves hot cross buns but wants to try something a bit different this year, Easter bread might be the dessert to make. This dessert is colorful and will add a pop of pastel colors to your dessert plate.

  • 7. Edible Easter Nest Eggs

    7. Edible Easter Nest Eggs

A seventh Easter-inspired dessert to enjoy is edible Easter nest eggs. This recipe is very unique, and you might even want your kids to help you as you make this recipe. It is different from the former recipes because it has a way of inviting kids to help with this fun dessert. Using various cereals and pretzels, you will make a sweet treat with your kids that your entire family will love.

    8. Lemon Cake

An eighth Easter-inspired dessert to try this year is lemon cake. Lemon cake is a great dessert to make at Easter because it has spring flavors and helps remind us that warmer weather and longer days are headed our way. If you especially love the zest of lemon-flavored desserts, you can't turn this recipe down! Even if your kids are not a fan of lemon-flavored desserts, let them try just a bite and see what they think. Their opinion might change once they try this delicious cake!

    9. Shortbread Cookies

A ninth Easter-inspired dessert is shortbread cookies. Shortbread cookies are one of my favorite cookies, and they are perfect for an Easter Sunday dessert. These cookies are light and buttery yet delicious. If you have never found a store-bought shortbread cookie that you enjoy, maybe you could try to make your own sometime. The best recipe I have found comes from Lil’ Luna. Try this recipe for Easter dessert this year and see if you don’t also fall in love with these great cookies!

    10. Banana Pudding

A tenth Easter-inspired dessert to try this year is banana pudding. Banana pudding was the dessert that my mom would make every year for Easter. It was a big deal when my mom asked me to start helping her make this delicious dessert. For our banana pudding, we used whipped cream instead of meringue. If you are not a meringue fan, know that you can substitute this ingredient for whipped cream instead.

A great recipe you can follow can be found here. This recipe is very close to the one I used to make with my mom. If you are a mom, try to include your older children to help with this recipe because it will form lasting memories with them. As someone who now treasures these memories, I can share the truth that even little things, such as cooking or baking with your mom on Easter Sunday, can give you lasting memories, laughs, and smiles.
