When Christians Feel Like Fighting Back

It's a very stressful world we live in these days, isn't it? You never know if you're saying the right things or wrong things, who you're offending, and who's upset with someone now. The world seems angry, doesn't it? Most people you talk to seem angry about something. There is no doubt that if you watch or follow political happenings, you see things constantly that seem wrong, like we have lost our way, like up is down and down is up.
Do you feel like I do sometimes, you want to just scream, push back, fight back, see things change? I sat in a church one Sunday and listened to the pastor talk about Christians complaining about RIGHTS. His position was that Christians focus too much on causes and not on Christ. He stated that things like abortion, free speech, and a host of others were places where Christians exert a tremendous amount of energy, and it always seems like we are fighting uphill. I think this is incredibly hard, but I do believe it brings to light something that needs to be deeper in us, a stronger commitment to the sovereign God we serve.
Of course, we care when we see innocent babies being killed in the womb, absolutely, and when we see Christians being killed or taken advantage of, or schools going to further and further extremes to dismantle any Christian faith being mentioned, let alone taught there. It gets worse, and I could go on and on about the miscarriages of justice towards those of us with faith.
However, I want to encourage you, that's right, encourage you to do deeper...in this world you will have troubles, but I have overcome the world. I have prepared a place for you. If it were not true, I would have told you. We serve an unbelievable God, so far past what we can understand and grasp. He is completely in control of a very sinful, broken world. If we hold close His word in the bible, it is all there; He teaches us. This place is going to be bad, and He is spot on, it is. But we can REJOICE! For He has overcome the world, and we are not home. There is something so much better that we cannot even imagine it. I know when you turn on your TV, or you listen to the radio, and you look outside and see the evil getting worse, getting closer and closer, it can be unnerving. GO DEEPER; you are born again, you are saved! Be joyful in the midst of this, and remember, you are loved, forgiven, and given so much grace.
There is HOPE...Hope is Christ, and He is in complete control. Don't ever forget that. EVER!
