Heavenly Father, thank you for the gift of this day. A moment to pause, reflect, and rest. As Psalm 127:2 says, you grant sleep to those you love. Help me honor this rest, not just by turning off distractions, but by tuning into your presence. Let this Sabbath refresh my soul and refocus my heart. You are the God who gave work as a blessing, not a burden. From the beginning, you placed Adam in the garden to work it and take care of it, and that purpose still echoes in our lives today. Thank you for the ability to work, to create, to build, to serve. Even when my work feels mundane or hard, remind me that “whatever I do, I work at it with all my heart as working for the Lord” (Colossians 3:23). But Lord, I confess work is not always easy; some days bring frustration, disappointment, even fear. I've felt the sting of toilsome work, injustice, burnout, and at times the ache of unemployment. In those moments crowned me in your promises. Help me remember that you “know the plans you have for me. Plans to give me a future and a hope. If I'm searching for work: guide my every step, give me confidence rooted in you and humility that listens and grows. Help me write, speak, and show up with grace. And as I wait, remind me of Psalm 37:5 “commit your way to the Lord; trust in him, and he will act. Lord, in all I do whether I lead teams or fold laundry, teach classes or apply for jobs, may your Spirit lead me. Let my hands be diligent, my heart joyful, and my words filled with grace. As Psalm 90:17 says, establish the work of our hands. Yes, establish the work of our hands. Teach me balance, Lord. Protect me from both laziness and idolatry. Let me not be consumed by tasks, but transformed by your presence. Help me know when to step up and when to step back. “Be still know that I am God” - let this truth calm every anxious thought. May my life, even in the workplace, be a testimony of your love. Let my attitude be shaped by the fruit of the Spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, and goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Make me salt and light to my coworkers, honoring my leaders and serving my colleagues with integrity, and above all, Jesus. Let my heart rest in the finished work of the cross. You said, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. I lay my striving down. Let me serve not for identity, but from identity. As a child of God, called, loved, and sent. So, Lord, whether I work with my hands, speak with my voice, or rest in silence, be glorified. Renew my strength, refresh my joy, and let my life reflect the beauty of a soul at peace in you. In Jesus’ powerful name, amen.
