A Prayer for God to Empty You | Your Daily Prayer
When You Feel Like You Have Nothing Left
We often hear the phrase, “You can’t pour from an empty cup.”
And there is wisdom in caring for our bodies, minds, and souls. But as believers, we are also invited into something deeper than self-preservation. We are invited into dependence on God.
Philippians 2:3-4 reminds us:
"Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves; do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others."
Jesus showed us what true humility looks like. He emptied Himself, took on the form of a servant, and gave His life for us. His example teaches us that love is often sacrificial, humble, and dependent on the Father.
When we feel drained, weak, or at the end of ourselves, we may be tempted to run toward distractions, escape, or isolation. But God invites us to come to Him first. His grace meets us in our limitations. His strength shines through our weakness.
Feeling empty does not mean God is finished with you. It may be the very place where He teaches you to rely on Him more fully.
Today, ask the Lord to fill you with His grace, reshape your heart with humility, and help you serve others through His strength—not your own.
Prayer
Heavenly Father,
I feel weak and empty some days, but I know You meet me in that place. Help me stop relying only on my own strength and teach me to depend fully on You.
Give me humility of heart. Help me look not only to my own needs but also to the needs of others. Teach me to love and serve with the same sacrificial heart Jesus showed.
When I am tired, fill me with Your grace. When I feel limited, remind me that Your power is made perfect in weakness. Use even my emptiness for Your glory.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen.
