Most of us do not intentionally decide to place God second.

It happens gradually.

We wake up and immediately check our phones. We begin thinking about the day’s responsibilities before remembering the One who gave us the day. We move from task to task, telling ourselves we will pray when life becomes quieter.

But life rarely becomes quieter on its own.

Giving God first priority does not mean ignoring our families, responsibilities, or work. It means inviting Him into all of it.

When God is first, He shapes the way we approach everything else.

He gives wisdom for our decisions.

Patience for our relationships.

Purpose for our work.

And peace when our plans do not unfold as expected.

God does not ask for first place because He needs our attention. He asks because He knows our hearts were created to find their deepest security and direction in Him.

Whatever has been competing for first place today, you can surrender it.

God is ready to meet you at the center of your life again.

“But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.”

— Matthew 6:33
