A Prayer to Remove the Plank in Your Own Eye

It’s often easier to notice the flaws and failures of others than to honestly confront the struggles within our own hearts. Yet Jesus challenges His followers in Matthew 7 to examine themselves first before criticizing others.

Christ compares the small speck in another person’s eye to the large plank in our own. His words remind us that humility and self-awareness are essential parts of spiritual growth.

Today’s prayer invites us to ask God to reveal areas of pride, hypocrisy, and hidden sin within us. Through His grace, He can transform our hearts and help us respond to others with compassion instead of judgment.

Scripture

“First take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly.” — Matthew 7:5

Prayer

Jesus, help me honestly examine my own heart today. Reveal areas where pride, judgment, or hypocrisy may be growing within me. Teach me to respond to others with humility, compassion, and grace. Thank You for loving me enough to transform my heart through Your truth. In Your name, amen.
