Bible-reading funks are real.

You start a plan with enthusiasm.

You buy the journal.

You highlight the verses.

You tell yourself, “This time I’m going to stay consistent.”

Then life happens.

You miss a day.

Then two.

Then a week.

Eventually, opening the Bible can begin to feel less like delight and more like a reminder of what you have not done.

Sometimes the reason is simple busyness.

Sometimes it is exhaustion.

Sometimes Scripture feels emotionally complicated because of how it was used in a harmful or manipulative way in the past.

Sometimes we are simply distracted.

Whatever the reason, one truth remains:

We need God’s Word.

Not as a box to check.

Not as a measure of spiritual worth.

But as one of the primary ways we learn who God is and how to walk with Him.

“But whose delight is in the law of the LORD, and who meditates on his law day and night. That person is like a tree planted by streams of water.”

— Psalm 1:2–3
