  • Published Jul 11, 2022

“O, the summertime is comin'
And the trees are sweetly bloomin'
And the wild mountain thyme
Grows around the bloomin' heather
Will you go, lassie, go?”

The Petersens are a family band from Branson, Missouri. The band consists of siblings, Katie, Ellen, Matt, and Julianne, mom Karen, and family friend Emmett Franz.

This bluegrass ensemble has traveled all around the world sharing their musical talents, but you can normally find them at home in Branson. For ten seasons, The Petersens have performed at the Little Opry Theatre in the Branson IMAX Entertainment Complex. Today, The Petersens are performing another classic with this incredible rendition of ‘Wild Mountain Thyme.’ Their performance includes the violin, a cello, the banjo, and beautiful harmonies; it is evident to viewers that they find such joy in making music together.

“And we'll all go together
To pluck wild mountain thyme
All around the bloomin' heather
Will you go, lassie, go?”

On YouTube, the family shared why they chose this particular song to record. “This was our favorite song we learned while touring Ireland. It has Scottish origins and there are many different versions out there.”

What an incredible performance from this talented family band. Who else is excited to see what they do next?

Psalms 96:11-12 “Let the heavens rejoice, and let the earth be glad; let the sea roar, and the fulness thereof. Let the field be joyful, and all that is therein: then shall all the trees of the wood rejoice.”
