Dennis Quaid and co-director Andy Erwin open up with Crosswalk Talk's Michael Foust about returning to the world of I Can Only Imagine and why they believe the sequel was a story that had to be told. I Can Only Imagine 2 follows the next chapter of MercyMe singer Bart Millard’s life as he struggles with fatherhood and searches for joy amid massive success, until newcomer singer Tim Timmons joins the tour and brings fresh optimism to a weary group. Erwin shares how nervous he was to make a follow-up and why this movie intentionally breaks the “happily ever after” to explore what happens when life gets hard again. Quaid reflects on playing Bart’s father once more and how the story’s themes of gratitude, redemption and hope – especially between fathers and sons – resonated deeply with him. It releases in theaters Feb. 20.
