Cally Logan reflects on Psalm 40:3 and the story of Philip and the Ethiopian official in Acts 8 to explore how stories of God’s faithfulness can strengthen someone else’s faith. This devotional encourages Christians to share what God has done with wisdom and humility, keeping the focus on His character rather than personal recognition.

What Is a Christian Testimony?

A Christian testimony is a personal account of how God has worked in someone’s life.

It may include conversion, answered prayer, provision, spiritual growth, healing, comfort during grief, or another experience that reveals God’s faithfulness.

The point of a testimony is not to make the storyteller impressive.

It is to help make God’s faithfulness visible.

Why Is Sharing Your Testimony Important?

Sharing what God has done can encourage people who are still walking through their own difficult or uncertain season.

Psalm 40:3 connects personal praise with public witness:

“He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God.”

When Christians tell stories of God’s faithfulness, those stories can remind others that God is still active, trustworthy, and worthy of hope.

Does Every Personal Story Need to Be Shared Publicly?

No.

Some stories are deeply personal and should remain private or be shared only with trusted people.

Wisdom matters.

A testimony doesn’t become more meaningful simply because it is public.

Before sharing, ask:

  • Does this honor God?

  • Does this story belong only to me, or does it involve someone else’s privacy?

  • Am I sharing to help—or because I need validation?

  • Is this the right person, place, and time?

How Do I Share My Testimony Without Making It About Me?

A simple framework:

What happened?
What season or need were you facing?

Where did you see God?
How did He meet, strengthen, redirect, or sustain you?

What did you learn about Him?
What truth became more real?

What hope could this offer someone else?

Keep the emphasis on what God revealed about Himself.

What Can We Learn from Philip in Acts 8?

Philip responded to God’s leading, listened to the Ethiopian official’s questions, and explained the good news about Jesus from Scripture.

His example reminds us that sharing faith often starts with listening.

Sometimes the best testimony isn’t a speech.

It is a conversation.
