Few things reveal our hearts quite like the people we love.

When someone we care about is struggling, making difficult decisions, facing illness, drifting from God, or simply living beyond our ability to protect them, we often discover how quickly concern becomes worry.

We pray.

Then we continue worrying.

We surrender.

Then we quietly pick the burden back up.

Greg Grandchamp shares a powerful illustration of this struggle. It's as though we hand one end of a stick to God while refusing to release the other end ourselves. We tell God we trust Him, but we still grip tightly to control, believing our anxiety somehow protects the people we love.

Yet anxiety has never protected anyone.

Only God can.

Psalm 55 reminds us that God never asked us to carry what only He can sustain. Our responsibility is not to control outcomes but to faithfully love, pray, encourage, and trust the One whose hands are stronger than ours.

Scripture

"Cast your cares on the LORD and He will sustain you; He will never let the righteous be shaken."
