Repentance

December 16, 2014

Repentance and salvation are like two sides of a coin. They go hand-in-hand. They stand side-by-side.  Repentance is part of salvation, for none who do not admit that they are sinners will seek the Savior. The Holy Spirit makes you aware that you are a sinner in need of a Savior.

In these uncertain days in which we are living there is a trend to make the gospel message so positive and attractive that repentance is sometimes left out. This is not honest. We are to preach the whole truth as true ministers of the gospel. Repentance prepares the heart to receive the remedy for sin, which is Jesus, the Son of God who died on the cross for our sin. This is not adding to the way of salvation, it is Jesus and Jesus alone.

You see, redemption has two parts: out and into – out from sin and into salvation.

A young lady said this to her Bible teacher, “I’ve always thought of Jesus as my Friend, but today I realize He must be my Savior before He can be my Friend.” My friend, unless you are saved, Jesus is your judge and you can know He desires to be your Friend.

Romans 10:10For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”

And Romans 10:13 -  For “whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

To call upon the name of the Lord is to believe He is Who He says that He is and will do what He says He will do. It is to pray and ask Him to save you and then to trust Him to do so.

“…Only trust Him, only trust Him, only trust Him now.  He will save you, He will save you, He will save you now.”
