Life unlike any other
These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life… 1 John 5:13 (NKJV)
Faith has many benefits. It provides access to God and His grace. It secures the promised presence of the Holy Spirit in our lives. It brings us into a state of spiritual adoption in His family. It brings joy. It justifies us before God and even sanctifies us.
But there's another benefit that we'd be remiss to not mention… eternal life.
Whenever we hear or see the term eternal life, we need to understand that we're not just talking about quantity or duration of life, but quality of life, as well. Not only is eternal life a way of referring to the fact that we will never die spiritually, but it's also referring to the conditions of what life will be like in heaven.
Just imagine—no darkness; no sickness; no pain; no death; no saying good-bye to a loved one; no hurricanes or earthquakes or tornadoes; no terrorism; no destructive addictions; no Satan to tempt, accuse, or deceive us; no insecurity, fear, or wrath; no betrayals or blindsides; no sinfulness of any kind whatsoever; no hunger or need that can't be met by the physical presence of God. And it's His loving presence that will completely consume us and command our attention and adoration. It's not just eternal life, it's perfect life.
That's the quality of life that's in store for us, and it's ours because we simply believe in the name of the Son of God. It's faith, faith in Jesus, that secures a perfect eternity for us. May we never forget that, and may we always cherish and hold dear our faith that leads to eternal life.
"Whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life." (John 3:15 NKJV)
