Ready to reveal

But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit... 1 Corinthians 2:10 (NKJV)

People can have one of two perspectives. They can have a carnal perspective or they can have a spiritual perspective.

A carnal perspective is completely grounded and bound to the things of earth. All that matters is what can be tasted, touched, heard, seen, and experienced in this world. It’s all about what happens during the dash on your tombstone—the one between the year of your birth and the year of your death. This perspective would say to do all you can to satisfy yourself here and now, because once you’re gone, that’s it. Many people look at their existence with a carnal perspective. Earth is all they know.

A spiritual perspective, on the other hand, isn’t limited to this life. It sees beyond this planet and apprehends the realities of eternity. It sees Heaven and the wonders awaiting those who have inherited it by believing in Jesus as their Lord and Savior.

Here’s what’s noteworthy about having a spiritual perspective: It’s not something a person can just decide to have on his or her own. Left to ourselves, we’re all stuck with a carnal perspective. “But God” intervenes on our behalf and He reveals the realities of His Heavenly Kingdom to us through the power of His Spirit.

That’s an important point to ponder because we need to recognize that God isn’t into playing hide-and-seek with the things of Heaven. He willingly reveals them to those who are willing to receive them. He wants us to provide that perspective, that hope, and that focus for us so we have something to live for beyond this life.

If you’re having a hard time seeing past the things of earth and apprehending the things of Heaven, it’s not because God isn’t able or ready to reveal them to you. Go to His Word, be open and yielded to His Spirit, and allow Him to adjust your perspective.

Think About It…
What does this passage reveal to me about God?
What does this passage reveal to me about myself?
Based on this, what changes do I need to make?
What is my prayer for today?
