We’re Known
Jesus said… “All of you will be made to stumble because of Me this night, for it is written: ‘ I will strike the Shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered.’ Mark 14:27 (NKJV)
The shadow of the Cross was now looming large over Jesus. In just a few hours, the religious rulers would follow through on their intentions to silence Him. They would arrest Him on false charges, parade Him before the Romans, and request that they publicly execute Him.
Jesus foresaw all of this, and He told His disciples that they would all stumble and scatter because of Him. That very night, as He was arrested, each and every one of them would abandon Him. Peter absolutely rejected this:
Peter said to Him, “Even if all are made to stumble, yet I will not be.” Jesus said to him, “Assuredly, I say to you that today, even this night, before the rooster crows twice, you will deny Me three times.” But he spoke more vehemently, “If I have to die with You, I will not deny You!” And they all said likewise. Mark 14:29-31 (NKJV)
What’s happening here? Peter and the other disciples were protesting what Jesus was telling them about themselves. In their minds, there was no way they would abandon Him! The disciples believed Jesus was wrong about them and just didn’t know them for who they truly were.
But as the night unfolded, it became painfully clear they were a lot weaker than they realized. Jesus was right and they were wrong…even about themselves.
We can never forget this fact: Jesus is always right about us. He knows us even better than we know ourselves. When He says we’re weak and need something, He’s right. When He says we don’t need something, He’s right. Jesus is always right, especially when it comes to us.
The Lord is always right about you. Trust in that and base your choices and decisions in life on what He says, not on what you think.
