God guides
Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. Psalms 119:105 (NKJV)
"If only God would show me what to do!" Have you ever heard someone say that? Have you ever said that? Most of us have, because deep down we recognize our need for divine direction, especially when we come to those proverbial fork-in-the-road parts of life.
The trouble is, we often arrive at these points confused and insecure. We're prone to question that the Lord would have any strong feelings about our lives much less show us what to do with them.
Fortunately, we're wrong on both counts. God does indeed have a will, an agenda, a plan, and a prerogative concerning our lives. And not only that, but He's also gone to great lengths to reveal it to us. How? Look at how God's word is described here. It's "a lamp to my feet and a light to my path."
Here's the idea: You're walking through life and it's dark all around you. You can't see clear enough to know which way you're headed or which way to turn. The best you can do is put one foot in front of the other and hope for the best. Sound familiar?
But along comes something to illuminate your way, to show you how to navigate through the darkness and confusion, and to lead you in the direction that's safe and secure. That light is none other than the Word of God, which is filled with His direction and guidance on what we're to do and what we're not to do.
Again, we all recognize our need for divine direction, but how many of us go to the scriptures, which are the source for getting it? God wants to show us what to do with our lives, and He has. But we also need to be willing to go to the place where He's placed it.
Heavenly Father, thank you for revealing Your will in Your Word…may we always go there for Your guidance.
