Love in the Timing
On Saturday I got to spend the day with Lee, a friend who helped us pastor in Midlothian while he and Teca, his wife, learned English. Lee and Teca lived in Midlothian with us until Lee completed the Th. M. at Dallas Theological Seminary. They now serve a large church in Sao Paulo, and because of Lee’s pastoral responsibilities—in this case an imminent funeral—it looked like we would not get to connect for some personal time
We checked early Saturday and found we could squeeze in a brief visit. So we drove into Sao Paulo to Lee and Teca’s apartment and got to sit down and talk. Then we went out for the best Churrasco (Brazilian barbecue) I have ever eaten, did a guided tour (Lee was our tour guide), and finally we ended our day with some sweets at an awesome Brazilian bakery.
It’s not in the standard Hebrew text, but it is in the manuscripts of Qumran and the Septuagint,
“The Lord is faithful to all His promises and loving toward all He has made.” Psalm 145:13
The Lord was loving in letting me have this time on Saturday with my dear friends.
“The LORD upholds all those who fall and lifts up all who are bowed down.” Psalm 145:14
“LORD, I know You take care of the smallest details, but I want to give You a special thanks for the way You worked out the timing on Saturday so that I was able to have this rare time with Lee and Teca. I also pray that You will use them to give comfort that touches and lifts up this family as they work through saying a temporary good bye to their precious loved one.
