Eternal Life Now
Just think of it. Eternal life means precious communion with God forever. Upon salvation, we receive the life of Jesus through His Spirit, and our "eternal life" begins. During our earthly days, we can have intimacy with God, which will continue forever in heaven. Being made in God's image, we are eternal beings, as He is. That is the good news.
Now for the bad news. While we have eternal natures, we are also sinners from birth. Not only are we born with a bent away from God; we are also dead to the things of God. At birth, we are physically alive but spiritually dead. Every one of us starts existence in a condition of sinfulness which separates us from the Lord. It also places us under His judgment and wrath for eternity. The Enemy would deceive us into thinking that physical death is the end of life, but Scripture tells us the truth: eternity will be spent either with God in heaven or in a permanent hell, separated from Him.
What we do with the saving work of Jesus Christ is the deciding factor for our ultimate destination. If we reject His sacrifice, then there is no forgiveness of sins and no relationship with God through the Holy Spirit. The destiny we were born with—unending punishment apart from God—remains unchanged. But if, by faith, we accept Christ's payment for our sins and receive Him as Lord, then we will receive an everlasting home with our heavenly Father.
God waits for our decision. The time to choose is now.
