The Cost of Integrity
By: Rick Boxx
December 29, 2014

Hobby Lobby had a store in Oklahoma City with a 10-year lease. The area became overrun with violent gangs, making the location no longer safe for Hobby Lobby employees.

Hobby Lobby closed the store and tried to sublease it, but after seeking tenants the only possibility was a wholesale liquor store. After prayerful consideration, David Green and his team decided a liquor store would further harm that community.

It cost Hobby Lobby $6 million in rent, but they chose to let the property sit vacant rather than allowing more liquor to reach that community.

In Job 27:5 Job, in spite of horrible circumstances told his friends, “Till I die I will not put away my integrity from me.”

Sometimes doing the “right thing” comes with a cost, but your integrity will be intact.
