An Irresponsible Son

Jim’s son is now working part time in the family business. Although his son is very talented, Jim’s hesitant to expand his son’s role due to his irresponsibility.
Jim’s situation reminded me of my childhood friend who also was irresponsible, until he went to work for his father. His father warned him that he would be worked harder than any other person on the job and there would be zero tolerance for irresponsibility. Then he held his son accountable. Today my friend is one of that company’s best managers.
Proverbs 29:17 teaches, “Discipline your children, and they will give you peace; they will bring you the delights you desire.”
If you have talented, but irresponsible, children in your workplace, consider giving them a chance, but make sure they’re held accountable.
