Selfish Ethical Decisions

In a study performed by the Barna Group in 2002, they discovered that 44% of people surveyed make their ethical decisions based upon “what pleases them personally.” Think about that!

More people make moral decisions based upon their selfish motives than any other category. Bernie Madoff is an example of someone who left thousands of people financially devastated for his own selfish gain.

Almost every day we read stories about people headed to prison because of financial fraud that was motivated by their selfishness.

James 3:16 teaches, “For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there is disorder and every evil thing.”

If we desire an ethical business environment, we need to set aside selfish gain and instead base decisions on God’s time tested standards and commands like the Golden Rule.
