According to CNN, Netflix recently announced unlimited paid maternity leave for its employees. For up to a year after the birth of a child, or an adoption, employees can stay at home and still get paid.
Although this benefit could be seriously abused, others have discovered that this type of policy helps retain employees! After Google increased their paid maternity leave from 12 weeks to 18 weeks new mothers were leaving the company at half the rate they did previously.
Proverbs 23:25 says, “May your father and mother rejoice; may she who gave you birth be joyful!”
To be a good steward of those God has entrusted to your care requires creativity. For some, generous maternity leave may be a good start in bringing joy to new parents and decreasing employee turnover.
