Boost, Buoy and Support

today's reading.
Acts 28:11-16    After three months we set sail in a ship that had wintered in the island, a ship of Alexandria, with the twin gods as a figurehead...

the blog.
After much travel on many ships, Paul finally arrives in Rome. And when he got there, "the brothers there, when they heard about us, came as far as the Forum of Appius and Three Taverns to meet us. On seeing them, Paul thanked God and took courage" (Acts 28:15). I am thankful for this verse because it gave me some good insight about encouragement. It showed me how important encouragement is. It showed me that I need to be tuned in and looking for opportunities to be an encourager even to people I don't know personally (like these men that came to Paul). And lastly, it also showed me that even strong, courageous, bold people (like Paul) need support and encouragement.

So how important is receiving encouragement from a brother or sister in Christ to you? Who can you offer some encouragement to this weekend--your pastor, a lay leader at your church, your spouse, a child, what about someone you don't really know that well? Don't hold back because as you encourage others, you'll be encouraged too. Tami W.
