Reaching Maturity

today's reading.
Colossians 1:24-29  Now I rejoice in my sufferings for your sake, and in my flesh I am filling up what is lacking in Christ's afflictions for the sake of his body, that is, the church...

God's call, His assignment for Paul, is to minister to the Church by teaching the Word of God and proclaiming Christ. Paul states in verse 28, "Him [Christ] we proclaim, warning everyone and teaching everyone with all wisdom, that we may present everyone mature in Christ."

This verse got my mind churning on being mature in Christ. I asked myself and considered things like: What should being mature in Christ look like in my life? How do I get there? Is what I'm currently doing moving me in that direction? What role should, and does, my church play in my becoming mature in Christ? It was a good exercise.

So what are your thoughts on being mature in Christ? Are you further down the road to spiritual maturity today than last year? Last month? Last week? Tami W.
