God of Seeing
Genesis 16 Now Sarai, Abram's wife, had borne him no children. She had a female Egyptian servant whose name was Hagar...
Sarai is jealous and behaving very badly. So a pregnant Hagar, wanting relief from her awful situation, runs away into the wilderness. Next thing you know, the angel of the Lord appears to Hagar and instructs her to return and submit to Sarai (that had to be hard to swallow). But the angel also gives Hagar some hope by giving her a preview of her son's future. Hagar obeys, and then we see this statement "You are a God of seeing. . .Truly here I have seen him who looks after me" (Genesis 16:13). I have to say, I was impressed by Hagar's response here.
So what did you learn from Hagar? How has God been "a God of seeing" for you? Tami W.
