Baby Steps

today's reading.
Judges 6:25-40     That night the LORD said to him, "Take your father's bull, and the second bull seven years old, and pull down the altar of Baal that your father has, and cut down the Asherah that is beside it...
Judges 6:25-40

think about it.
Describe Gideon's first bold act for God (6:25-27). What's the response of his community? Of his father? What empowers Gideon to take the next step (6:34)? How are you tapping into the Spirit's power today?

the blog.
As we finish out Judges 6, Gideon seems to be moving forward and making strides with his new role as rescuer of Israel. But….he's not all the way there yet. He's still a little fearful (tears down the altar of Baal at night, vs. 2) and unsure about the task God has given him (asks for signs with the fleece twice, vs. 36-40).

Gideon is struggling with his faith and trusting the Lord (Just like we've probably done a few times--right?). So what action(s) can we take that will help build up our faith and trust in the Lord? And what does this passage show us about God? Tami W.
