“And he stayed two full years in his own rented quarters and was welcoming all who came to him, preaching the kingdom of God and teaching concerning the Lord Jesus Christ with all openness, unhindered.” (Acts 28:30–31,)
What joy it is to do your work unhindered! Paul, though a prisoner of Rome, presumably under house arrest, was unhindered in his proclamation and teaching work. Only eternity will reveal the fruit that was brought forth from these two years of unhindered work.
For most of the history of the United States, the proclamation of the Gospel has gone unhindered. Even with the restrictions that seem to be encroaching, our hindrances must be less than those of the Apostle Paul, whose work was considered to be unhindered. Sadly, our hindrances come from within. We have self-made hindrances of fear, timidity, laziness, pride, or apathy. It is time to set ourselves free from the practical apostasy that we’ve adopted.
It is also time to call the world to unhindered faith. Why is it that, in our modern world, there are still Christian brothers and sisters who cannot freely express their faith, let alone proclaim it boldly? Why is so much of the world closing itself to freedom of religion? Our nation has the capability of insisting upon religious liberties for all. An unhindered faith should be our personal practice and national agenda.
