Be Careful How You Vote

“A divine decision is in the lips of the king; His mouth should not err in judgment.” (Proverbs 16:10, NASB95)

One of our great American freedoms is found in the voting booth. We have what has been a rare privilege through the ages; namely, the opportunity to have a government “by the people, of the people, and for the people.”

Though we do not, thankfully, have a King who proclaims edicts, nonetheless we do have a President who has tremendous influence on our lives, our freedoms, and our prosperity.  We cannot take lightly the responsibility we have in electing the right President.

Because the “lips of the King” speak what will become law and policy, we must elect one who, as far as humanly possible, will not “err in judgment” in his decisions and words.  Ideally, this would be one who is prayerful and searches the scriptures for wisdom before making his decisions and pronouncements.  In reality, we do not always have such an ideal choice.

The term “err,” relating to the judgments of the King, literally means “be unfaithful.”  I pray for a President, Senators, Congressmen, and other elected leaders who would be faithful to the revelation of God in His Word.

In His Grace,

Dr. Randy White
