The Day of Judgment
Dr. Randy White
“Therefore having overlooked the times of ignorance, God is now declaring to men that all people everywhere should repent, because He has fixed a day in which He will judge the world in righteousness through a Man whom He has appointed, having furnished proof to all men by raising Him from the dead.” (Acts 17:30–31)
God has made a declaration! His declaration is for all people everywhere, and it is directly connected to what people think concerning His Son, Jesus Christ.
“Some say John the Baptist; and others, Elijah; but still others, Jeremiah, or one of the prophets.”” (Matthew 16:14, NASB95) There is still a lot of “some say” theology in the world today. Some say He is a prophet, some a teacher, some a hoax, some a problem, some a guru. But some say He is the Christ, the Son of the living God.
God has fixed a day—a word that means “established” or “set into stone.” You and I do not know the day of judgment, but God has fixed it—appointed it—and it will not be moved, adjusted, or amended. On the day of judgment, God will judge based on one criteria: What did you think of my Son?
If your response to His Son is not one of faith in His work on the cross, made available through the resurrection, you need to repent (literally, change your mind) and accept Him as He is presented: the Son of the Living God.
