Deep Foundations
by Berni Dymet

Psalm 18:2 The LORD is my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer, my God, my rock in whom I take refuge, my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.

The Sydney Harbor Bridge is one of those landmarks that I guess is recognized the world over.

I recently had a friend visiting from the US and I decided to take him on a walk under the bridge - to see it from an angle that most people never see it from.

And I have to tell you, when you're standing down there - well, it's a massive structure.

The thing that struck me was the foundations.  Unbelievable.  They're huge - but I guess they carry two hundred thousand vehicles each day.  Not to mention the 6 million rivets, 52,800 tonnes of steel and two hundred and seventy two thousand liters of paint (that's sixty thousand gallons).  Those foundations support quite a load.

And when you think about it - so do we.  I have a lot of traffic in my life - some heavy loads to bear.  My hunch is - so do you.  And what we need - all of us - are strong foundations.  Solid as a rock - to carry the load.
