Old Dog - New Tricks
by Berni Dymet

Matt. 19:26 But Jesus looked at them and said, "For mortals it is impossible, but for God all things are possible."

They say that it can be hard to teach an old dog, new tricks.

I own a cat called Doggy.  Well - I think it's kind of cool.  Anyhow, recently, we built a small shelter for her in the backyard and put one of those little cat doors on it - so she has to push to get in and out.  Now she loves this new kennel - it's warm and it's dry - but learning to use this cat door, well, that's been a bit of a struggle.

I wonder sometimes whether we're not a bit like that.  I know I can be.  Now God comes along - and He does something new.  Something we don't expect.  We kind of know it's going to be good, but it drags us out of our comfort zones.

And we just sit there and look at it like the cat and wonder - "Now how's that going to work?"

But what I've discovered is that when I push through them - these new things of God…they work really, really well you know.  Every time….

Now, if only I could teach Doggy that!
