Taxpayers and Their Integrity
By: Rick Boxx

The Internal Revenue Service sponsored a poll to discover people’s views on cheating on their taxes. Their findings were surprising. According to the Huffington Post, 87% of the people surveyed claim that no level of cheating on tax returns is acceptable in their opinion!

What I found interesting was the reasons they felt that way: 95% claimed that they held this view due to their personal integrity, while 63% feared being audited. Although flawed, our tax system works because of the integrity of the taxpayers.

Proverbs 10:9 teaches, “Whoever walks in integrity walks securely, but whoever takes crooked paths will be found out.”

We are fortunate that most of our citizens have convictions about applying their integrity to taxes. This year let’s all join the majority and pay our fair share.
