Unconventional Hiring Practices
By: Rick Boxx
April 3, 2013

Randy’s workforce consists primarily of inmates bussed each morning to his organization. Constant turnover and training is required, but Randy views it as part of his mission to give these inmates a second chance.

This unconventional hiring practice results in Randy’s business receiving needed labor, while giving inmates a skill and hope for their future. Randy also provides spiritual training for these inmates by partnering with chaplains and a prison ministry.

In addition, the state wins because part of the wages these inmates earn goes back to repay the state for their housing.

Hebrews 13:3 teaches, “Remember those in prison as if you were their fellow prisoners, and those who are mistreated as if you yourselves were suffering.”

Integrating your faith into your work sometimes looks unconventional, but impacts many lives.
