Gaining Favor
By: Rick Boxx
February 23, 2012

When I was a young loan officer at a branch bank, I was required to work on Saturdays once a month. On one of those scheduled Saturday’s something more exciting came up so I never made it to work that day.

My branch manager was an easy going guy so I arrogantly thought I could get by with my insubordination. The following Monday he grilled me about not being there and made my disobedience a painful experience. I suddenly gained a new found admiration for a boss willing to hold me accountable.

Proverbs 28:23 teaches, “Whoever rebukes a person will in the end gain favor rather than one who has a flattering tongue.”

Don’t be afraid to hold your staff accountable when it’s deserved, you may actually gain their favor.
