Thoughts for Today
We set boundaries for our children. "Don't touch the hot stove ... Don't run into the street ... Show respect to other people." We set these boundaries because we love them and want those things we know are best for them.
As we've been discussing this week, God in his love has set boundaries for us, his children. He is our Creator, our Father, and knows what's best for us. Walking in obedience and staying within his boundaries is the wisest way we can live.
The Bible teaches us about God's boundaries. Our culture says that if we believe in these boundaries, we are narrow-minded. But the Bible says if we choose to live within the boundaries, we will please God, encourage others and receive God's blessing. The Bible says that living within God's boundaries brings us security. It doesn't mean we won't have problems ... but it does mean God will help us through whatever we face.
Consider this ...
Contrary to popular opinion, walking within God's boundaries is the smartest thing we can do. Have you found yourself trying to stay so open-minded and politically correct that you've strayed outside some of those boundaries?
Father, thank you for giving me boundaries that guide me into right decisions and keep me safe. Forgive me for the times I've been swayed by popular opinion and chosen my own way - or the popular way - instead of yours. In Jesus' name ...
Knowing God My Father is designed to help people strengthen their relationship with their heavenly Father by applying His names to their personal life. Along with helping Christians know God better, it can serve as an evangelistic tool by giving a true picture of God to people who may have a distorted view of Him because of an absent or abusive earthly father who did not or does not provide for them.
