Peace is not something we manufacture through effort or control—it is something we receive from God and learn to walk in daily. The Peacemaking journey always begins vertically before it moves horizontally. When our relationship with God is out of alignment, our relationships with others will almost always reflect that unrest.
Many conflicts are fueled not just by circumstances, but by what is happening beneath the surface of our hearts. Fear, pride, resentment, or a desire to protect ourselves can quietly shape how we respond. God invites us to slow down, bring those inner struggles into His presence, and allow His peace to rule in our hearts.
Biblical peace does not mean the absence of conflict; it means the presence of God’s truth and grace guiding us through it. As we submit our hearts to Him, He gives us the strength and wisdom to pursue peace—even when it feels uncomfortable or costly.
Consider This . . .
Take time today to reflect on your relationship with God before focusing on your relationships with others. Are there areas where you are resisting His peace—perhaps through unresolved sin, unforgiveness, or a need to stay in control? Ask the Lord to reveal what may be stirring beneath the surface of your heart. As you surrender these areas to Him, trust that He will meet you with grace, not condemnation. Peace with others often begins when we allow God to restore peace within us.
Lord, I acknowledge my need for You today. Search my heart and reveal anything that keeps me from walking fully in Your peace. I surrender my fears, my pride, and my desire to control outcomes. Fill me with Your peace and lead me in Your ways as I seek to live at peace with others. In Jesus' name . . .
