Thoughts for the Day
Control often feels safer than surrender. Monitoring, advising, reminding, checking, managing—it can create the illusion of stability.
But control is exhausting.
You cannot cause another person’s problem. You cannot control it. You cannot cure it. Trying to do so drains emotional and spiritual strength.
Control is often rooted in fear—fear of chaos, embarrassment, loss, or helplessness.
When you cast your cares on the Lord, you are transferring weight to shoulders stronger than yours. Surrender is not abandonment—it is trust.
God is far more capable of working in your loved one’s life than you are.
Peace begins where control ends.
Consider This . . .
What are you gripping tightly right now?
How much emotional energy does your need to control consume daily?
Have you mistaken control for responsibility?
What specific fear makes surrender difficult for you?
What would it look like to pray instead of manage?
To trust instead of monitor?
To release instead of grip?
Surrender is not weakness—it is alignment with truth.
Lord, I confess that I cling tightly because I am afraid. Teach me to trust You more than I trust my ability to manage outcomes. I release what I cannot fix into Your hands.
In Jesus’ name . . .
