Scripture

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

1 Corinthians 13:4-7 NIV

Thoughts for the Day

Real love is more than attraction, emotion, or excitement. Feelings can be strong, but feelings alone are not enough to sustain a relationship. God’s Word teaches us that love is patient, kind, humble, truthful, protective, trusting, hopeful, and persevering.

That kind of love does not happen by accident. It grows as we surrender our selfishness to God and learn to love others with maturity. Real love does not ignore problems or pretend everything is fine. It faces truth with grace.

In dating, real love moves slowly enough to see clearly. In marriage, real love keeps choosing faithfulness even when life is difficult. Love is not just something we fall into. It is something we grow into as Christ shapes our hearts.

Consider this …

Ask yourself: Am I looking for someone who makes me feel loved, or am I becoming someone who knows how to love well? Real love is not just about receiving affection. It is about giving patience, kindness, truth, forgiveness, and commitment.

Prayer

Father, teach me to love the way You describe love in Your Word. Help me not to confuse emotion or attraction with true love. Grow in me patience, kindness, humility, truth, and faithfulness.

In Jesus' name. . .
