Scripture
You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.
Thoughts for the Day
Resilience begins with a willingness to let God change us. Many of us want life to improve, but we can hesitate when God begins showing us what needs to be surrendered. Change can feel uncomfortable because it often requires letting go of familiar patterns, old responses, and ways of thinking that have shaped us for years.
Paul reminds us that the old way of life must be put off and that we are to be made new in the attitude of our minds. This is more than simply changing outward behavior. It is allowing God to reshape us from the inside out. Resilience is not pretending we are strong; it is allowing God to renew us so we can stand, grow, and move forward in His strength.
Sometimes the hardest part of change is admitting that what once felt normal may no longer be healthy. We may have learned to survive by avoiding pain, controlling situations, reacting in anger, or withdrawing from others. But God does not shame us for where we have been. He invites us into something new. His grace gives us the courage to face the truth and the strength to take the next faithful step
Consider this …
What is one area of your life where God may be inviting you to change? Maybe it is an attitude, a habit, a fear, a relationship pattern, or a way you respond when life gets hard. Change does not usually happen all at once, but it begins when we honestly say, “Lord, I am willing.” Today, ask God to help you take one step toward becoming the person He is calling you to be.
Father, help me to be ready for the changes You want to make in my life. Give me courage to put off the old ways that keep me stuck and to walk in the new life You have provided through Christ. Renew my mind and shape my heart.
In Jesus' name. . .
