Scripture
God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging.
He says, “Be still, and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth.”
Psalms 46:1-3, 10 NIV
Thoughts for the Day
Life can become noisy.
Responsibilities, problems, deadlines, relationships, news, and uncertainty compete constantly for our attention. When fear is added to that noise, it can become difficult to hear anything else.
The Facing Fear, Finding Faith study points us toward stillness before God. It reminds us that when life becomes frantic, we need time in God's presence where the voices of fear can become quiet enough for us to hear His voice.
Psalm 46 doesn't describe peaceful circumstances. The earth is giving way. Mountains are falling. Waters are roaring.
Yet right in the middle of all that chaos, God says:
“Be still, and know that I am God.”
Stillness reminds us who is in control.
We don't have to understand everything happening around us when we know the One who is with us.
Consider This . . .
How much quiet space does God have in your life?
Sometimes we ask God for peace while continuing to fill every available moment with noise.
Set aside a few minutes today without your phone, television, music, or other distractions. Sit quietly with God.
You don't have to solve anything.
You don't even have to say much.
Simply remind yourself:
God is here.
God is my refuge.
God is my strength.
God is still God.
Sometimes faith grows strongest when we become still enough to remember who He is.
Prayer
Dear God, quiet the noise around me and within me. Help me slow down and recognize Your presence. When life feels uncertain, remind me that You are my refuge and strength. Teach me to be still and trust You. In Jesus' name . . .
