Scripture

“Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles of any kind come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy.” James 1:2 NLT

Thoughts for the Day

Trials are unavoidable. James says we should not only expect them but actually view them as opportunities for growth. This is a radical shift: instead of asking, “Why me?” we can ask, “What is God teaching me?”

Every storm becomes a classroom where endurance is developed. Trials strip away illusions of control, exposing our dependence on God. Endurance builds godly character, teaching us to trust Him even when life feels unfair. Our comfort is temporary, but our character shapes eternity.

Jesus warned His disciples they would face trouble—but He also promised His peace. Endurance doesn’t mean pretending hardships don’t hurt; it means holding onto the truth that God is still with us and working for our good.

Prayer

Lord, help me not waste the trials in my life. Build endurance in me through every hardship. When my faith is tested, remind me that You are shaping me for something greater. Teach me to rejoice, not because of the pain itself, but because of what You are producing in me through it. In Jesus name...
