Why Do Some Christians Experience Victory? - Love Worth Finding - January 24

January 24, 2024 – Why Do Some Christians Experience Victory?
Matthew 17:20
Sermon: 2052 How to Be Strong in the Faith

Pray Over This

“So Jesus said to them, ‘Because of your unbelief; for assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, “Move from here to there,” and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.’”
Matthew 17:20

Ponder This

Why is faith so important? The Bible says, “But without faith it is impossible to please Him” (Hebrews 11:6). If you please God, it doesn’t matter whom you displease. And if you displease God, it really doesn’t matter whom you please. You can’t be saved apart from faith. But anyone who is lost can be saved if he or she will put his or her faith where God put his or her sins—on the Lord Jesus Christ.

Faith not only saves us but also enables us to live the Christian life. Some Christians are stumbling and failing, others are victorious. What is the difference? The difference is faith. Some Christians have a bright hope for Heaven. To others, it’s not real. But for those who have faith, “Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen” (Hebrews 11:1). Faith makes a difference because it gives hope that goes beyond this life and present circumstances no matter what.

  • How would you assess your faith? How would you like to grow in your faith?
  • Who is an example of someone you know with a strong faith? How have you seen that exemplified?

Practice This

Talk to a person whose faith you admire and ask how that strong faith was developed.
