July 14, 2025 – The Blower’s Still Going, but the Furnace Is Out
Judges 16:20
Sermon: 1800 The High Cost of Low Living, Part 2
Pray Over This
“And she said, ‘The Philistines are upon you, Samson!’ So he awoke from his sleep, and said, ‘I will go out as before, at other times, and shake myself free!’ But he did not know that the Lord had departed from him.”
Judges 16:20
Ponder This
Samson defiled his purity and then diluted his power. His strength was not in his hair but in the Holy Spirit of God, who had left him. Samson said, “Here come the Philistines. Let me at them.” But he was just like other men. He had no strength, but he didn't know it. That challenges me. I wonder if some of us are like this: You were once a mighty power for God. You were once a faithful deacon, a wonderful Sunday School teacher, a soul winner. But you have compromised and played in sin, and the power of God is gone from you, and you don't even know it. The blower's still going, but the furnace is out.
Without the power of God, you can put in all the effort but get so frustrated because you don’t see the results. This is why we must seek a vibrant relationship with God every day instead of growing complacent. There have been so many people who have begun in the Spirit and ended in the flesh. God is always present and ready to have that relationship, but we miss out on so much when we start to lose sight of Him.
- How would you describe your relationship with God right now? What is going well? Where are you struggling?
- What is the hardest part of maintaining a personal, vibrant relationship with God?
Practice This
Confess to God where you are struggling in your relationship with Him.
