Break the Chain - Love Worth Finding - June 3
June 3, 2025 – Break the Chain
2 Peter 1:2-4
Sermon: 2270 How to Build Stability into Your Life, Part 2
Pray Over This
“Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord, as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.”
2 Peter 1:2-4
Ponder This
Have you ever seen an elephant in the circus? The elephant will generally have an iron ring around one of his rear legs. That ring will be connected to a chain and a stake in the ground. And the animal can only go as far as the chain will allow. Now here is the interesting thing. That stake is not very deep in the ground. That elephant could pull it out at any time. But he never tries because he thinks he cannot. He has been trained to believe he cannot pull the chain free.
Many people have been trained by the devil in that same way. You don’t understand the power you have. And Satan’s got you chained by some little insignificant thing when God wants to set you free and to make you what you ought to be. Grace comes through the knowledge of Jesus. He gives the peace that all of us need—peace with God and with one another. And power comes through the knowledge of Jesus Christ. But if you don’t know God’s promises, you can’t claim them. To be free, you need to know and stand on the promises of God.
- What are some of the promises of God? Which ones are hard to trust? Which ones have you held onto at various times?
- How have God’s promises helped you through difficult times? Who is a friend that needs to hear the promises of God right now?
Practice This
Encourage someone else in the promises of God.
