Do You Rely on the Real Source of Hope? - Love Worth Finding - March 16

March 16, 2024 – Do You Rely on the Real Source of Hope?
Romans 15:4
Sermon: 1725 How You Can Be Certain the Bible Is the Word of God, Part 2

Pray Over This

“For whatever things were written before were written for our learning, that we through the patience and comfort of the Scriptures might have hope.”
Romans 15:4

Ponder This

The Bible has one theme: salvation. The Bible has one hero, Jesus. It has one villain: the devil. There is one purpose: to glorify God. How do you explain the unity of the Bible apart from divine inspiration? That’s the reason we believe the Bible is the Word of God.

It is not only unified in message but also in events. The prophecies in Scripture and how accurately they are fulfilled are evidence of the truth of the Bible. When you read the prophecies of the Bible, you have to stand back in awe. The subject of prophecy is so big that I could not even begin to deal with it. It would be like trying to dip out an entire ocean with a teacup. So, let's just talk about the prophecies concerning the central character of the Bible: the Lord Jesus. There are more than three hundred precise prophecies that deal with the Lord Jesus Christ in the Old Testament that are fulfilled by Jesus in the New Testament. To say these are fulfilled by chance is an astronomical impossibility. Jesus infinitely fulfilled prophecy. The Bible is more than a book. Jesus is more than a man. Wherever you are in life, this Word of Life applies to you. Whatever situation you find yourself in, Jesus is the hope you need.

  • What fulfilled biblical prophecies can you name?
  • How have you seen unity in Scripture? How does this build your faith?

Practice This

Read the Bible with a friend and discuss how it has impacted your life.
