Power Point - December 20, 2005

December 20, 2005

For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; and the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. --Isaiah 9:6

In the name Wonderful Counselor, we see the humanity of Jesus and His counsel and comfort for us as believers. In the name, Mighty God, we discover Deity of Jesus. Not only is the story of Christmas about Christ’s birth into humanity as man, but it’s also about God coming to earth.

In the Old Testament Scripture, Mighty God literally means “Hero God.” All children need a hero, and usually it is their parents — at least when they are little. Our heroes in this life should not be sports stars or celebrities — they should be people such as the soldiers who fight for our freedom, firefighters who save others from destruction, teachers who educate children, and policeman who put their lives on the line each day for our protection. And certainly before any other should be our Mighty God!

During this season, many people are willing to embrace the Baby Jesus, but far too few are willing to acknowledge Him as the Mighty God. You see, the Baby in the manger is the God who created the world. He is God who became man — 100% God and 100% man — humanity and deity in one. Jesus is the Person who is Mighty God, the pathway to Mighty God, and the power of Mighty God.

Christianity is not a mere philosophy of life — it is a Person who is the Way, the Truth, and the Life (see John 14:6)! Without the person, historicity, and deity of Jesus, we have no foundation for our faith. After all the years of my life, I still strongly believe in both the deity and humanity of Jesus Christ. He’s still my Hero. Make Jesus Christ the Champion and Hero of your life today!

DETERMINE TO KNOW THE MIGHTY GOD WHO IS THE PERSON OF CHRIST, THE PATHWAY TO GOD, AND THE POWER OF GOD.
