“Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one! You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength. And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates. --Deuteronomy 6:4-9

Something very terrible is happening to the American family and has been for quite some time. We are losing our spiritual heritage — our conscience, courage, character, and conviction. There’s a war in America for the soul of your family and the battle begins in your home. In the book of Deuteronomy, Moses instructed the children of Israel to focus on God, remember their priorities and keep them in check, and pass these principles on to their families.

If you are a parent, you have the responsibility of sharing your faith in Jesus with your children. Your influence will last far beyond tomorrow or even a few weeks. Psalm 127:4 says, “Like arrows in the hand of a warrior, so are the children of one’s youth.” Our number one job as parents is to take our children (the twigs), and make them into arrows, so that they can be prepared for spiritual warfare and penetrate the darkness with the light of Jesus Christ.

By God’s grace, if we prepare them, point them, and propel them in the right direction, we can turn the tide of this lost generation and restore our nation and world. But if we don’t have revival and spiritual awakening in America, we’re looking at ruin and anarchy. It’s time for families to wake up and do something.

When was the last time you responded to your child with solid, biblical principles from God’s Word? How often do you share with your family what God is doing in your life? Determine to “diligently” and daily teach your children to love the Lord with all of their hearts, souls, and minds. My kids know that I’m not a perfect dad, but they do know that my faith is real. Introduce your children to the Lord at a young age, and raise them according to His Word.

YOU CAN LEAVE A LEGACY OF FAITH WITH YOUR CHILDREN THAT WILL LAST, SO GET STARTED TODAY.
